David Swan, MD

President and Chairman of the Board

David is a retired family physician who co-founded Del Rey Medico with his wife, Barbara.  He has been traveling to Dominican Republic since 2016.  He is a devout Christian, active in his church.  His goal is to facilitate indigenous medical resources that provide consistent quality care and health education to those in need.  He has two adult sons and one grandson.

Barbara Swan, MD

Secretary

Barbara is a retired rehabilitation physician, who has been traveling to the Dominican Republic since 2016.  She and her husband founded Del Rey Medico after seeing the need for consistent medical care in central DR.  She has always had a heart for mission.  Working with Del Rey Medico has allowed her to fulfill her childhood dream of being a medical missionary, although not in the way she expected.  She raised two sons and has one grandson.

Richard A. Orr, MD FCCM 

Vice-President and Director

Dr. Orr is a retired Professor of Critical Care Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Associate Director and Attending Physician in the Pediatric and Cardiac Intensive Care Units at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC for 38 years. He has been a follower of Jesus since 1971 and has attended two week-long mission trips in the Dominican Republic with Meeting God in Missions.

Mark Pinkerton, MD 

Director

Dr. Pinkerton is a family physician in southwest Ohio.  He was raised in a Christian home with parents that emphasized ministry and missions.  He has practiced medicine for more than thirty years with the majority of the time practicing in rural Colorado.  This background has driven his interest in the work with Del Rey Medico in the Dominican Republic.  He is married to Bonnie, and they raised four daughters.  Four grandchildren enhance their life with much joy.

Thomas Patton

Treasurer and Director

Thomas (Tom) Patton spent his formative years in accounting and became an audit partner at Ernst & Young in 1989.  Starting in 1991 he worked as a Chief Financial Officer for numerous companies experiencing high growth.  Tom is a follower of Jesus Christ and now spends his time volunteering with non-profit entities including Habitat for  Humanity-Beaver County, the Sewickley Presbyterian Church, Locking Arms Men and Del Rey Medico. Tom is married to Debbie Bruce Patton and they have 5 children and 9 grandchildren.
