Why To Give
Many Dominicans and ethnic Haitians in central Dominican Republic lack access to basic medical care. Government clinics in rural areas are understaffed and under-resourced. Many cannot access the government clinics due to lack of documentation. The clinics of Del Rey Medico provide basic primary care and medications to all, regardless of ability to pay. Our staff and visiting missionaries also provide much needed basic health education.
We currently operate on a shoestring budget - less than $3,000 per month to cover payments to staff, clinic overhead, and for medications. Both clinics often run out of medication before the end of the month. We would like to increase the amount of money we can send for medications from just over $1,000 per month to at least $2,000 per month. Your donations will help make this a reality.
How do women in developing countries manage their menstrual cycles? They don't have access to disposable menstrual hygiene products, or a means of safely disposing of such items if they are available. Reusable menstrual cups are a safe, long-term solution. We are planning a trip to Dominican Republic in February and plan to take a suitcase full of menstrual cups with us. A donation of $15.99 buys two menstrual cups.
